Former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick recently addressed a group of Republican supporters, expressing frustration over the backlash she’s faced for her outspoken patriotism.
Instead of backing down, she vowed to become even more vocal about her beliefs.
Speaking at a rally in support of Donald Trump and JD Vance, Patrick reflected on the criticism she received after attending Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in December 2023.
During the event, she posted photos and videos with prominent conservative figures, including Brandon Tatum and Tucker Carlson. The reaction from some of her fans was swift and negative.
In response to her posts, one commenter wrote that they had “lost all respect” for her, calling her attendance at the event “super disappointing.” Another claimed to be “horrified” and “speechless” over her political alignment.
Undeterred by the criticism, Patrick responded boldly. “I won’t be judged for it. In fact, instead of quieting down, I’m going to get louder,” she declared to the rally crowd.
In a video she shared on social media, Patrick explained that her decision to attend AmericaFest came at the suggestion of her father.
“The lineup of speakers was just so stellar, and I thought, ‘This looks fun. I’m local.’ So I said to my dad, ‘Hey, Dad, you want to go?’ because he’s been into politics since forever. And he said, ‘You know what, you should bring your sister,’” Patrick recalled.
Her sister joined her at the event, and together they enjoyed the festivities, even capturing the moment with several photos.
Patrick mentioned that her posts from the event featured a red color scheme, which inadvertently intensified the backlash.
“I’m not going to lie; red is my favorite color. I don’t wear it because I’m Republican, I wear it because it just works well for me,” she said. However, she also acknowledged that her caption, “I love America; let’s make America great again,” drew ire from many who viewed her support of the MAGA slogan as extreme.
“People didn’t like that,” Patrick said. “They looked at me like I was some radical, right-wing MAGA. Like, MAGA has this awful connotation for so many people. And you know what? All it did was light a fire in me.”
Patrick made it clear that she refuses to be silenced for expressing her love for her country.
“I will not be judged for living in America, being an American, being a proud American, saying I love America, and wanting to make America great again,” she affirmed. “Instead of quieting down, I’m going to get louder.”
In the video’s caption, Patrick reiterated her stance: “I love America. Let’s make it great again,” echoing her earlier December post.
As with her initial comments, Patrick’s recent remarks sparked heated reactions online. One critic asked, “Can you tell us why you support a felon?” while another wrote, “Oh, you will be judged.” Some users argued that America is already a great country and voiced opposition to Trump’s return to office.
Though Patrick did not disclose any future political appearances, it’s clear that she intends to continue speaking out unapologetically in support of her beliefs.
