At Arizona State University (ASU) on Wednesday, Ruby Halperin, daughter of Arizona’s Republican Senate nominee Kari Lake, was allegedly attacked while registering voters.

The incident occurred during a “Greek Voter Registration” event organized by Turning Point Action, which attracted a larger crowd than a competing Democratic voter drive on campus.

Halperin shared the details of the incident on social media, explaining that a student threw a drink at her before fleeing the scene.

She posted photos of herself soaked from the attack, stating, “THIS IS THE LEFT. They know we are winning this election and it scares them. GET UP AND VOTE TRUMP.”

Her mother, Kari Lake, also took to social media, expressing support for her daughter and adding that young people across universities are increasingly registering as Republicans.

They know that thousands of kids at every university are registering Republican. They know that they are losing the young vote because young Americans know their future is on the line and it’s the America First Republican party that wants to make their future great again.

Kari Lake went on to criticize the media for its lack of coverage of the incident, arguing that if the roles were reversed, and a Democrat had been attacked by a Republican, the media would be covering the story extensively.

She tweeted, “Where is the news media in giving this coverage??” and continued by criticizing the Arizona media as “compromised” for ignoring the attack on her daughter.

Where is the news media in giving this coverage??

If the tables were turned and a young Democrat was registering other students to vote and a Republican poured a bottle of soda on that Democrat student the news media would be ALL OVER THIS.

Shame on the compromised Arizona… https://t.co/RUJJxvyz21

Halperin framed the attack as part of a broader effort by left-wing individuals to intimidate conservatives.

She called the attack a tactic designed to “scare conservatives” and declared her commitment to standing firm, saying, “I will never back down.”

This incident adds to a string of events at ASU where conservative figures have faced opposition.

Last year, a professor who founded Drag Story Hour Arizona reportedly assaulted two Turning Point USA journalists.

In another case, ASU faculty expressed outrage over a conservative event featuring panelists such as Charlie Kirk and Dennis Prager, which ultimately led to the harassment and dismissal of two university employees involved in hosting the event.

In the 2022 Arizona midterms, controversy arose when Arizona PBS, located within ASU’s Cronkite School of Journalism, allowed Democrat Katie Hobbs to appear for an extended interview after she refused to debate Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake.

This decision came despite objections from the Arizona Clean Elections Commission.

ASU has also faced criticism for canceling a 2022 event featuring Republican congressmen Andy Biggs and Jason Chaffetz, reportedly due to the political leanings of the speakers.

In 2021, far-left students protested the attendance of Kyle Rittenhouse, who was enrolled at the university following his acquittal.

Protestors called for his expulsion and for ASU to condemn him as a “racist murderer.”

ASU has been a hotbed for political tension, with several instances of conservative voices facing hostility on campus.

Halperin’s experience is another example in the ongoing conflict between political ideologies at the university.
