Elon Musk has revealed that SpaceX and Twitter/X will be relocating their headquarters from California to Texas.
Musk made the announcement on the X platform, citing the passing of a California law prohibiting schools from implementing regulations mandating parental notification if a child identifies as transgender as the decisive factor prompting the move.
“This is the final straw,” Musk wrote. “Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas.”
“I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children,” he later followed up.

The decision was met with great enthusiasm by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who is pleased that it will create numerous job opportunities in the Austin region.
“[Elon Musk] announces the move of SpaceX headquarters to the great state of Texas,” Abbott wrote. “This cements Texas as the leader in space exploration.”
Musk’s choice comes just a few days after he publicly backed Donald Trump’s bid for president in the wake of an assassination attempt against him. He also expressed satisfaction with Trump’s selection of J.D. Vance as his running mate.
