Former President Donald Trump made an announcement on Thursday, revealing that he had reached an agreement with the Harris campaign regarding three upcoming debates.
Emphasizing the significance of these debates, Trump stated during a media briefing, “I think it’s very important to have debates.”
He further detailed the agreed-upon dates for the debates, stating, “We’ve agreed with Fox on the date of September 4; we’ve agreed with NBC, fairly full agreements subject to them, on September 10; and we’ve agreed with ABC on September 25.”
Trump also mentioned that the anticipation for these debates was high.
Expressing confidence in overcoming any remaining details such as debate location and audience arrangements, Trump acknowledged that there are some outstanding aspects that need resolution through mutual agreement with the Harris campaign.
Despite this, he expressed optimism that these details would not pose significant obstacles.
Additionally, Trump criticized the Harris campaign for its avoidance of interviews since Vice President Kamala Harris took over as the top candidate.
He remarked, “The other side has to agree to the terms. They may or may not agree, I don’t know. She hasn’t done an interview. She can’t do an interview; she’s barely competent. And she can’t do an interview.”
Meanwhile, pressure had been mounting on the Harris campaign due to its avoidance of interviews and refusal to comment on this behavior when questioned by media outlets.
Highlighting his past success in effectively ending President Joe Biden’s candidacy after a single disastrous debate where Biden appeared confused and stumbled over his words, Trump revealed that Biden ultimately withdrew from his re-election campaign and endorsed Kamala Harris as his successor.
Moreover, despite facing an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally and narrowly surviving it, recent polling data indicated a surge in support for the Democratic ticket.
This news comes amidst heightened attention on both candidates’ performance in upcoming debates and ongoing speculation about how each candidate will navigate their respective campaigns amid various challenges and controversies.
