During a recent interview, Gina Raimondo, the Commerce Secretary under President Joe Biden, responded defensively to a reporter’s questions about the accuracy of the job creation reports.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics had revealed that the nonfarm payroll growth between April 2023 to March 2024 was revised downward by a significant 68,000 jobs per month.
Additionally, there were 115,000 fewer manufacturing jobs and 45,000 fewer construction jobs than previously reported, marking the largest downward revision in 15 years.
The reporter confronted Raimondo about these discrepancies during an interview at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
In response to the reporter’s question about the inflated job numbers claimed by Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Raimondo launched into a defensive tirade against former President Donald Trump.
“No, when I hear that, first of all, I don’t believe it because I’ve never heard Donald Trump say anything truthful,” Gina Raimondo said.
The ABC reporter interjected: “It is though from the Bureau of Labor.”
She dismissed the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ findings as untrustworthy because she claimed to have never heard Trump say anything truthful.
“I’m not familiar with that,” Gina Raimondo said.
