President Joe Biden’s Expansion of Temporary Protected Status Benefits Over 1.2 Million Foreign Nationals
President Joe Biden has significantly expanded the number of foreign nationals in the United States eligible for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), reaching nearly 1.2 million individuals who are now shielded from deportation.
Recent data from the Pew Research Center shows that close to 1.2 million foreign nationals are currently eligible for TPS, enabling them to remain in the U.S., obtain work permits, and avoid removal.
Under Biden's administration, the Department of Homeland Security has included Afghanistan, Burma, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ukraine, and Venezuela in the list of countries whose nationals without legal immigration status in the U.S. can qualify for TPS.
